The brilliance of P.T. v12.08.2014 was cut short by corporate fallout. In early 2015, a highly publicized dispute between Hideo Kojima and Konami led to Kojima's departure from the company. Consequently, Silent Hills was officially canceled in April 2015.

Though P.T. v12.08.2014 is no longer officially playable, its DNA lives on in the entire modern horror landscape. It single-handedly shifted the industry away from action-oriented horror back toward slow-burn psychological dread.
