In the near future, a biotech startup’s secret project produces VEC-643, a viral vector engineered to alter epigenetic markers that encode long-term cellular memory. When the project's lead scientist dies under suspicious circumstances, Kira Hale, a once-prominent virologist exiled after whistleblowing, is pulled back into the field by a clandestine collective living off the grid. As memories vanish across cities, Kira discovers the vector’s true design: a modular platform capable of selectively editing communal histories. She must choose between exposing a conspiracy that could destabilize society and using VEC-643 to heal those suffering unbearable trauma—at the cost of losing what makes people themselves.
