The full title of this work is Al-Khulāsah fī an-Nahw (The Summary of Grammar), but it is universally known as Alfiyah because it consists of exactly 1,002 verses (though most printings cite 1,000). Written in the 13th century by Imam Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Malik (d. 1274 CE), the book condenses the entire science of Arabic syntax into rhythmic, rhyming poetry.
